Want to see the result of a society that doesn't keep score, makes sure everyone plays, and discourages any competitive drive? The bouncing "me! me! me!" little shit above is the poster child. Fucking kids have everything gift wrapped to them that they literally shed tears now when they aren't automatically given a foul ball at a game. I'm sure that jersey he's wearing has his name on the back when he's hitting .087 from the three hole on his machine pitch team because his mom bitched to the coach that his son isn't getting as many AB's compared to the rest of the team. The problem starts and ends with the parents who make every effort to shield their kids from any sort of adversity in life, let alone teach them how to deal with it.
Luckily for the young kids that are growing up within our group of friends, their parents were raised on sports. Sports teach you that success is earned and not underhanded to your concave chest that is glazed with your own tears. Sometimes you don't get what you want. Sometimes that's because you don't deserve it and sometimes that's because you got unlucky. Either way, shut the fuck up. We're in a society where everyone doesn't shut the fuck up. Instead they externalize every bad feeling from every bad experience in life which has given us some self righteous children and equally annoying parents. For your sons, they will be the ones who sit back down when they don't get a foul ball, the ones that work harder when they are benched in high school, and the ones who recognize that substandard work doesn't get you that promotion. Growing up in a sports environment might create some over the top asshole jocks but it also does a great job of weeding out the self-entitled brats that are popping up like gremlins in water. Make sure your kid knows if he won or lost at the end of the game and how to react appropriately.
Sidenote: I found out this was in Australia so it's good to know that Americans aren't the only ones raising little cunts.
